artist statement
These drawings emerge from a sustained private practice of working directly in pen and ink without preparatory planning. Forms, figures, and spaces are discovered through attentive immersion in mark-making rather than designed in advance.
Theys are built through accumulation — lines circling, gathering, and dispersing across the page until structure, presence, and spatial tension begin to appear. Figures do not sit inside environments; they condense out of the field of marks itself.
This process is less about depicting subjects and more about navigating a perceptual terrain. The work records a way of seeing in which image, space, and movement arise simultaneously through the act of drawing.
